Point of Origination

POINT OF ORIGINATION is defined as the channeling of clients/customers to the person who has caused them to come to or call Edina Realty.  The appropriate question for an office administrator, secretary, receptionist or an agent to ask for point of origination determination is:  "May I ask what prompted you to call Edina Realty?"  If the person answers that it is because of a sign, a listing sold near their home, an open house they visited, a magazine they received, an advertisement they read, etc., the call belongs to the person who performed whatever act prompted the call.

POINT OF ORIGINATION IS IN EFFECT 24 HOURS A DAY.

If a call slips past the front desk, it is the duty of the agent to pursue the above-described questioning process.  Sign calls go to the listing agent; ad calls to the person whose name is on the ad.

Only calls prompted by company advertising and/or untraceable calls belong to the floor person.

The reason for a POINT OF ORIGINATION policy is that our business is capitalistic by nature; hard work is rewarded.  If agents work hard, hand out flyers, get listings and cause the phones to ring, they are the ones who should profit from their work.  More importantly, observance of POINT OF ORIGINATION builds trust among agents and promotes the teamwork and working atmosphere necessary to permit each agent to achieve their potential.

If you are in doubt about what to do with a particular call, consult a manager.

On occasion, you may receive a call in error, or because the receptionist needs your assistance in obtaining a name and number.  Your help in fielding the call and getting it to the proper person is most appreciated!
